SEASONS IN BHUTAN
This poem was sent to us from a young female poet, Parbati Rai, who lives in Bhutan, in the eastern Himalayan mountains.
Hello everybody!!
Here we go & sing a song,
Jump on the feet and dance along.
Spring is here!!! Spring here!!!
It’s a Colorful moment in the year!!!
Hi little Cuckoo!!! Come and join me to sing a song
For the new season that has just begun.
Valleys green & farms to begin, flowers bloom
Tranquil beauty the country holds, breath be held for its dwell.
An Ugly summer follows the spring changing the light into a fright
Times go weird loads with floods with stormy rain.
Rivers thick and fat with mud bangs the farm for sighs with nude.
Wind hitting the prayer flags that go flapping in the hills.
Phew!!! As the wind blows wild, our kyras (lady’s dress) go high
Season’s made for the entire nude, no matter what but it goes through.
Yet the time waits for none, farmers cultivate and buildings constructed
Roads go slide, we loose lives, yet it’s brought to the height but never the lost life’s back.
Autumn, Autumn here you come let the season hop to front,
Sunny Bunny times ahead but overwhelms the entire days with warmth.
A loner fall then begins leaving the branches naked behind.
Beauty beholds by the season but not with the glee but with the blue.
Grass missing the leaves like we missing the close ones,
Over pours the bitterness when someone leaves you behind.
Lives go bare and uncovered the stare, nothings hidden yet you have to dare
For strength unfolds to face the bare challenges that winter’s gonna spares.
Chilly wily winter comes, thickest of gowns found in the towns.
Rivers go dry, forests go fry, birds migrate and animals go down
Humans left, rapping in the thick gowns, schools closed for the winter to be cold.
White Mountain ranges high, stands out with the pride forever high.
Snowy paradise lies in hills, amongst the tallest places that chill.
Seasons festive and faces aglow, No one can hide as the beauty flow.
It is my country Bhutan is its name, whatever the size it glows with its fame.
Pride within & prayers for my land to stand on the heights and keep the shine.
-Parbati Rai.

I enjoyed all the different images of your country, Parbati! Reminded me of the smiling Bhutia women I saw years ago in India.

A hearty song of “Cuckoo Prabati” breezes out the outlook of Bhutan and its peace loving people. The elegance and marvelous of seasons around Jomolungma mingled with patriotic touch at the end is conquering our mind and thoughts. We wish many more such creations from Prabati.
Best Wishes
Ravi
