“…not popular over there…”
G’Day, Boss, We were interested to find your Aussie web site. It is interesting reading and gives us a close look at your outback and the people who live there, past and present. We now live in New Zealand but originate from Canada. We have considered moving to a warmer climate. Not anywhere tropical. But maybe sub-tropical. Is it true that Americans (“Yanks”) are not popular over there?

REPLY: Over all, I would doubt that Americans are unpopular in Australia. Most criticism you hear is against the US government, not against the ordinary American people. Unfortunately, because our government in their wisdom (or lack of it) have decided to assist the U.S. with their military activities, we Australians get tarred with the same brush and, as a consequence, we receive some international flack for being lackeys or puppets of the Bush/Cheney regime. Politics and politicians are the main trouble in this wayward world of ours.
